Garrison Brothers Texas Bourbon Whiskey in Stores
Just like the title says, folks: Garrison Brothers Texas Bourbon Whiskey hit stores today. This will be the first time I’ve tasted the stuff, since I completely missed the previous releases. If you want to grab some, I recommend hopping right on it, as this batch will probably sell out, too — it’s bigger, but word’s gotten out a bit.

Emma Janzen has a good list of where the stuff is available in the Austin area over on her blog Liquid. If you plan to go out looking for a bottle, do, as Emma recommends, call ahead to make sure they’ve still got the stuff in stock. Apparently several shops are already totally out of the stuff. I know I dragged my fiance over to Spec’s the second he got out of work; as of 5:30 or so, the Spec’s at Southpark Meadows was still quite well stocked.
I’m going to come right out and confess I love how Lone Star-fabulous the packaging is. It’s like the drinking gentleman’s fantasy of Texas. This has zero to do with actual taste or quality, but, the packaging is really seductive for this lifelong Texan.

So, in summary: Get while the getting’s good, and I’ll report more later. Also, be warned, a bottle is quite dear. When I shelled out $79 for one at Spec’s earlier today, it became, officially, the most expensive bottle of liquor I’ve ever purchased.
