Syrup: Blueberry Syrup
The syrup in the Blueberry Gimlet is easy to make up fresh if you can find blueberries in sufficient quantities. I got mine in bulk, because they would have been a bit rich for my blood at the grocery store.

Blueberry Syrup
2 c. fresh blueberries
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
juice of 1/2 lemonPut all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20-30 minutes or until blueberries are beginning to burst and sugar is fully incorporated. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Pour through a strainer into a jar or other storage container. Dispose of berry pulp.

I haven’t used this syrup for much else yet, but I think it’d make a very nice base for Italian sodas, and be nice drizzled over French toast, pancakes, or waffles.
